I'm just wastin' away in Margaritaville
On a message board I frequent, the Question of the day pertained to your favorite "lovely beverage". This was my answer.
I like fruity drinks and whiskey. Depending on the day and the bar or setting you'd see the following...
Home and had a rough day, and want to unwind... Crown Royal or Makers mark on a few rocks in a comforting, heavy old fashioned glass.
Want to get the party started quickly... a shot or two of tequila (I prefer Sauza Conmemorativo)
Out at a bar where I think they probably can't make a good mixed drink - Either a Cape Cod (with Absolut or better, please) or Malibu and pineapple
Out at a bar - Margarita, Caramel appletini or Pomegranate Kamikaze
Out at a bar - Extremely bad day - Martini, porn-star dirty with extra olives (preferably stuffed with blue cheese)
At home, hanging out by the pool - Margarita or Pomegranate Kamikaze.
Just recently, I've found that I really enjoy Palm Beer. So I'll have that sometimes as well. Especially by the pool or on draft at our favorite watering hole.
I'm sure no one really wanted all those details... but it was fun to write it all so, there it is :)

Where I proclaim my love for Pettys
Yep, they packed me a ice bucket to chill my bubbly wine on the way home! |
My husband can't figure out why I love Pettys Meat Market. Its a gourmet store and more!
Plus they know how to make a girl happy!
Me: Do you have any sweet lightly bubbly sparkling wine - ahem champagne... You do? Is it cold?
Petty's Wine Man: No ma'am but where are you driving... Because I can chill it for you on your drive home with your own personal ice bucket!
Me: Suuuuuuure! Thank you!
What's not to like??

Limoncello Martini
So if you read my laundry list of stuff I want to blog about down below, you saw that I made myself a fantastic drink when I got home Friday night. (That reminds me, I REALLY need to do some laundry.)
I wanted something lemony, and I remembered the homemade Limoncello that my wonderful BIL made for us. It's been in the fridge, so I pulled it out and mixed it up in a shaker with some Ciroc Vodka (My fave), some Grand Marnier and lots of ice. It was absolutely delicious!
Go get you some!
I just love me a nummy cocktail!

Daisy's Honey Tea
It is another day for the magical elixir... After a not so pleasant stomach bug today I am turning to Daisy's tea again for some relief.
I'm not usually a fan of honey in my tea, but this tea needs, it, and it is SO SO good and soothing!
Daisy’s Honey Tea
Magical Elixir
In a small saucepan, pour 2 coffee cups water, add
1 cinnamon stick broken in half
1/2 tsp anise seed (I had some star anise so I used that to make the picture pretty)
1/2 tsp dried rosemary (I have a giant bush of fresh, so I used a mix of both)
1/2" piece fresh ginger, peeled, sliced
1/2 - 2 tsp clover honey
A few drops lemon or lime juice to taste (optional)
Simmer together for a few minutes and strain into warmed coffee mug.
SO yummy and calming!

1-1-11 I added a little dried orange peel this time, just a pinch. I really like it!!

Of a night out - from my spaces.live blog
Of a night out
Friday, January 09, 2009, 8:15:54 AM
Last night was a pretty spectacular night. Nothing extra fancy, or anything, it’s just that we had a nice night out. We went to Meg O’Malley’s, one of our favorite watering holes, to have a leisurely dinner and John had a few Stella’s. They have Stella Artois on draft here, and it is his very favorite beer. They also serve it in cold glasses, which doesn’t hurt at all. Our favorite Sissy*, Jen took care of us, and we ate at the bar.
I ordered the Parliament bean soup – which is only .18. It was delicious! I also ordered the clam strip appetizer, John ordered some wings and a crab and shrimp cake appetizer. I had coffee and water, and John had Stella.
Now we don’t go here for the food. Sure the food is tasty, and some of the menu items are Irish themed. (Except last night I noticed they had Cod Cobbler on the menu, and that totally grossed me out). No, we come here for the ambiance, and the camraderie, and from here on out, Mondays are going to be Meg nights. It wasn’t so packed you couldn’t hear yourself think, there was no live music. It was brilliant! The best part is that we actually talk to each other. We laugh and giggle and carry on, and Jen comes and checks on us and laughs with us. Last night I was watching a little floozy on the other side of the bar get schnockered on some kind of fruity drink, and I had a hankering for fruit punch, so Jen whipped some up for me. It was delicious!
We had a great night, and I look forward to going back again.
