It's only the second day

I have nothing to write about.  This is not good.  I am working on trying to get out of a funk.  I think I'm doing well.  I've listened to Christmas music twice, excuse me, three times in the last week.  I didn't even have the urge to stab anyone afterwards, this is such progress.
My mom is going to give me her 9' tall Christmas tree, because it won't fit in her new house.  I'm very excited about this.  It's prelit.  This is the bomb y'all.  I absolutely hate putting lights on the tree, and taking them down is worse.  I hate it so much I'm willing to put up a fake tree!  Don't worry, I'll get plenty of Christmas scented candles, no.one.will.know! :)

Right now I am waiting for my friend to bring me back something for lunch.  I was just talking to some people the other day about how I should be making better choices... oops, I said the should word...  ummmm I was just talking to some people the other day about how I have the option to make better choices when it comes to what i'm eating.  Lets just say that for lunch today, I failed.  I mean, ummm... I chose to make a bad choice?  heh.

Am I the only loony out there that has been listening to Christmas music since before November 1st?  Please tell me there are more of us out there, or tell me I'm loony.  I don't care.  Is anyone still reading this thing, is this thing on??  Bueller?

Eating Disorders

We all have eating disorders in some way or another I guess. The one I'm talking about right now though is hers:

You see that face?? She's saying she want's her damn food NOW! Generally we have always just left the food for the two cats down all the time and they eat when they are hungry- or that's the idea anyway. This ones problem is that every time she eats, she immediately throws up. On and off for the last two years this has been going on. We took her to see a new vet, finally got her eating a new food, and have some more medicine for her, so hopefully (fingers crossed) we will get somewhere this time.

The reason we have started picking the food up is so that we can monitor and make sure she actually is eating and also because the other one needs to go on a diet!  See:

She can't groom her back or her rear that well anymore because of how she's built and how uh fluffy she's gotten. So now she is on a diet.

Whee!

Food inconsistency when dining out, which turned into a lap band thing...

While reading through GreenYogurt's archives about her experiences trying new foods and some of her commenters talking about inconsistent foods when dining out, it inspired this rant.  Yay!

I hate incorrectly prepared food. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves. Of course it doesn’t help that both my husband and I like to cook (he’s a professional for heavens sake) so nine times out of ten when we go out to eat we are like “Damn we could have made this better ourselves and saved the money.” He and I both agree that the most important thing for a restaurant or any food service establishment to have is *consistency*.

I probably shouldn’t admit this in public, but I’ve sent food back because it wasn’t prepared the same way I had it “last” time I was here.  At TooJay's I love to order their brisket dinner plate.  The first time I went there and ordered it, it was thinly sliced and heavenly.  As it was for the next few times we went. Around the third or fourth time, it came out and it was very thickly sliced, and in my world (Lap Band World) it was indigestible.  So I called the waiter over and asked him if they changed it, he said no, I said well it seems very different, they usually slice it thinner and while I hate to say this, I have to send it back.  I did, and the manager came over later and asked what was wrong.  I told him.  He went back to the kitchen and realized that the first few times, I was getting the brisket sliced "sandwich style" which was thinner, and this chef in the back was now slicing it regular and that was the problem, so he told me from now on when I come in to order it, to just order it sliced "sandwich style".  Glad that worked out, because their brisket rocks!

Also, I like my eggs over medium. There’s a reason for that; A) I like my yolk runny. B) I am completely GROSSED OUT if the white is runny at all and C) If it comes out over cooked, or it is over cooked because they left it under the heat lamp too long, I’ll send it back. See (A).  D) I can only eat the yolk of an egg most of the time, so it's that much more important to me that it's cooked correctly.  I explain that more down yonder.

Due to my lap band, I have a lot of issues with texture and consistency of food.  For example, I usually can't eat the whites of the eggs even if they are cooked perfectly, they get stuck. If it’s something like that, it's my problem and it happens that I can’t consume a certain meal because of my body, but it is good and prepared properly, I’ll have the meal packed up and I’ll take it home where I will try to eat it again, or I’ll just throw it away. Sometimes I can hardly even touch a meal, and inevitably I’ll have to excuse myself, and go “PB”* so I am not in pain. I’ll return to the table and the wait staff will come over and ask if everything is ok with the food. I’ll say yes and just have them box it up.

You would think after having this band for so long, I’d have I figured out by now. But that is NOT the case. Well not really. It seems I’ve outsmarted the band. You see, I’ve gained a significant amount of weight back. I’ve got to figure out how to reverse this y’all. I’m working on it.

**Productive Burping – It’s kind of like throwing up, in that food is coming up like when you throw up, but it feels differently. I don’t really know how to explain it. You can probably google for an explanation far better than mine.  I did that and this girl seems to explain it better than I can.  Basically something gets stuck and it has to come up.

Daisy's Honey Tea

It is another day for the magical elixir... After a not so pleasant stomach bug today I am turning to Daisy's tea again for some relief.

I'm not usually a fan of honey in my tea, but this tea needs, it, and it is SO SO good and soothing!

Daisy’s Honey Tea
Magical Elixir

In a small saucepan, pour 2 coffee cups water, add
1 cinnamon stick broken in half
1/2 tsp anise seed (I had some star anise so I used that to make the picture pretty)
1/2 tsp dried rosemary (I have a giant bush of fresh, so I used a mix of both)
1/2" piece fresh ginger, peeled, sliced
1/2 - 2 tsp clover honey
A few drops lemon or lime juice to taste (optional)

Simmer together for a few minutes and strain into warmed coffee mug.
SO yummy and calming!

Purple Leather Jacket

I am really digging this jacket. It is marked down to $45 at Dillards. Hoping they will mark it down a bit more. I'd love to own it!
Its also a teeny bit snug... So maybe by the time they mark it down again.. I will have lost a few pounds?

It's too late to be up like this....

I'm feeling very passive aggressive this. . . uh. . . morning... I really suck at it. So I'm gonna shut up now.

Also not feeling well (to put it mildly), and cranky (very).  The cramps are extremely severe today.  They haven't been this bad in quite a while.  (Yeah, so that means that my plan didn't work this month either.  We won't even GO there.)

I guess I'm going to have to break down and take the advil PM so I can get to bed before the sun comes up.

Sure hope the other crap I'm taking doesn't mind.

Sigh.

Clams two ways

We went out for dinner and sort of a business meeting the other day to Bunky's in Melbourne. They are known for their raw clams and oysters. Luckily it was oyster night, so we got some. I am partial to raw clams, so we got some of those too. The oysters were ok, some of them were a little odd looking. Almost like they were frozen before, but I cannot imagine they are. The other person we were with said that every other one of hers were icky.

The clams however were teh awesome. They were small, briny, sweet and succulent. Now, as a lap band girl, I have issues eating sometimes. Usually the clams are no probelm though. Not so that night. I could.not.keep.them.down. Very annoying. So clams two ways. There you have it ;-)
